I've been fascinated by doodle art featuring interlocking circles and tried one of my own. Challenging to keep track of the interweaving!

Postcard; hand-drawn, digitally colored in GIMP,
the free Photoshop analog.

And colored a different way

Ooooooh, colored pencils for the win! I only had rubbing alcohol
to blend but I think my results will end up being better
when I get some baby oil or odorless mineral spirits.

After watching a couple of tutorials on YouTube, I learned how to blend colored pencils a little better, and it really stepped up my game from the last effort. I love me some sunflowers. Postcards are a very handy size; the cardstock is heavy enough and it's enough room to work out an idea without being overwhelming.

This piece was inspired by the Zentangle Project Pack 3 at the official Zentangle site and digitally colored in GIMP, the free Photoshop analog.

This piece was inspired by the Zentangle Project Pack 4 at the official Zentangle site, but I didn't have a spare $25 to shell out. I followed the advice to add subtle colors to some of the sections, but the scan didn't preserve the very pale colors. After scanning I colored them digitally in GIMP.

November 5, 2018

I'm back to doodling. After reading a good book on the subject, I decided to tackle shading, now I don't know what made me so shy. Oh, yeah, I was no good at it. A little practice fixed that right up.
